Security with tradition and a future
We have specialised in the standardised securing of containers, known as ‘lashing’. Lashing refers to the securing of containers on ships at the container terminals in Hamburg. The securing of containers on ships is a necessary prerequisite to ensure the safety of the transport and the stability of the ship. Improper securing can lead to containers falling into the sea, cargo being lost or dangerous situations arising on board. Securing is carried out using the ship's own lashing systems, i.e. twistlocks and lashing rods, which are mainly used on deck but also partly in the holds.
Containers are stacked on the ships and arranged in rows. These are firmly connected to each other with twistlocks (also known as swivel pins). These are inserted into the container corners (corner castings) before loading on the quay and firmly locked into place by turning. There are automatic and manual twistlocks. In addition, long metal rods are used to connect the containers to the ship's deck or lashing platform. This prevents lateral movement. We work closely with the shipping companies/vessels and container terminals/operators to ensure the safety of the cargo and ship.
